Well, thanks to Al’s great work in generating interest from Full Tilt in sponsoring our little private tournies, there is a great prize pool available for the BBT3. Most of the details can be found in this post from Al and I’m going to actually try and play some of these and win my seat to the WSOP this year.

Holy smokes! Is this post actually going to have poker content? Why yes boys and girls it is! You see, I might have been silent lately and not showing up for most of the blogger events but I’ve actually started playing on a more regular basis again.
The 6-max NL tables at Full-Tilt are where you can find me currently. Mostly seated at the 25NL and 50NL tables. I’ve taken the stance that I know how to play poker dammit, I just need to actually think about my cash game and make the adjustments necessary coming from almost purely a tournament background.
I have had very limited long-term success at the cash tables online the past few years. I think that there are two very good reasons for this. First and foremost, there is admittedly a relatively small sample size. I mostly play cash games just for fun or to fill a little bit of downtime. Secondly, because of this, I never really took the time to study the differences between cash and tournament enough to really be successful. At a live cash game, I hold my own, mostly because I think the players are even worse and I tend to pay attention more because I don’t have anything else to do while sitting at the table.
So far the results have spoken for themselves. I haven’t had a single losing session this month. Now I know and realize that this cannot be sustained long term. However, I’m winning because I’m putting myself in position to win. I am studying my opponents’ tendencies and taking control of the table. If the game is not good, I get up and find a better one. When I find a fish, I find their weakness and wait to exploit it or manipulate them to exploit it. I think it’s mostly just about finally finding the proper mindset and taking the game seriously again.
Well it looks like I’ll be joining everybody in vegas. This week I’ll be purchasing my tickets from lovely DC to Las Vegas on Virgin America. I’ve been looking forward to trying this airline out and I’m even willing to sacrifice a longer trip with a layover in San Francisco to do it! As far as accomodations, they haven’t been finalized yet. I do plan on being towards the north end of the strip with the rest of the degenerates so that it won’t be far to stagger back from the Geisha Bar, et al. I’m really looking forward to the tourney at the Venetian as I enjoyed playing in their Deep Stack Extravaganza last time I was in town.Looking forward to seeing everybody there!
UPDATE: Well after taking a long look at the finances, what with a wedding to plan, Vegas is not going to happen this time around. Especially since I really should be taking some of my free time to go visit family. So that’s what I’m going to do. See you all next summer instead!

Well, we’re currently at the third break of the WBCOOP. If you want to know what that means, just look it up :) Anyway, it’s a freeroll for bloggers that has a $40k prize pool. There are now 188 left out of the 1337 that started. The prize bubble starts at 81st place with some schwag and 1st place is a $12k prize package to the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. A bunch of WPBT members are still in it so hopefully if I don’t win then I’ll at least know the winner.
At the same time we recently excited the 2nd hour of a $10 rebuy, also on Stars. I’m sitting at about 2k above average with ~600 people left after over 2000 started. The top 227 spots pay in that one with a $15k first prize. So it’s possible (although highly unlikely) that I could end up winning almost $30k in the next few hours. Wouldn’t that be nice?
So if you’re not busy then come rail me!
