So I step on the scale tonight and am shocked when I see 189lbs. I know that I’ve been performing poorly on the workouts lately, becoming very lazy. In the past few weeks however, I’ve become a glutton with my eating and stuffing myself at every opportunity.
Overall I’m very disappointed in myself. At one point since moving to DC I had been getting quite overweight, tipping the scales at 198 which is the most I’ve ever weighed. This past summer I went down to 176 at the low point and for the most part was hovering about 180-184.
This is unacceptable and it’s going to change. Steph is also unhappy with how married life has been impacting our waistlines so we’re going to team up and do it together. I’ll be tracking my progress with a website called skinnyr. This site provides the graph which you can see to the right so that you can follow along and hopefully provide some encouragement! The goal for now is 172, which I know is possible. Can’t wait to feel my pants loose around my waist again….
Actually going to start up running again now that my back is 100% again. Stephanie and I both have decided to make an effort to start eating more healthy. We had been doing this but lately have slipped into some bad eating habits. And there’s nothing like winter to help pack on the extra pounds!
Well not really, but it will be running for the farthest distance that I’ve ever done. The Army Ten Miler is an annual ten mile race here in DC. It is open to the general public although the military is a big chunk of the field. I have decided that I’m going to attempt to run this thing even though I’ve never run 10 miles at once in my life. I just figure that I need an excuse to get in really good shape this year apart from my twice-annual PT test. That is only a two mile run and so requires speed more than pure endurance.
This will also give me more excuses to use my Nike+ kit for my iPod. It’s a neat $30 add-on for an iPod nano that works like a fancy pedometer, uploading stats to a neat website. I’ve started linking some stats on the right so that anybody can keep track of how I’m doing. I’ll update my progress as I go along and we’ll see how I do.
